For better or for worse, Chile is perhaps best known internationally for crises, be they trapped miners or catastrophic earthquakes. Although I spent the vast majority of my time in this long, narrow country in Santiago, its ultra-modern capital city, the feeling I got exploring the small swath of the country I did get to see was anything but tragic.
